The Faculty of Furniture Design and Wood Engineering
The only faculty in Romania that trains specialists in the design and technology of furniture and wood finished products for the field of wood processing in general, the Faculty of Furniture Design and Wood Engineering has been an independent unit since 1959. Prior to this date, the faculty was integrated in the Institute for Wood Logging and Engineering in Bucharest as a department for Wood Logging and Engineering until 1953. Between 1953-1956, the current faculty operated as a department of the Faculty of Wood Logging and Engineering within the Institute of Forestry in Brașov, and between 1956-1959, as a department of the Faculty of Mechanics within the Polytechnic Institute of Brașov, under the name Machines for Wood Industry.
For over 58 years, the Faculty of Furniture Design and Wood Engineering has been a unique body dedicated to wood and its uses, aiming to train specialists in wood processing. It consists of teaching activities unfolding over all three university levels: bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctoral studies. It is supported by research activities related to the economic environment so as to ensure the best training for the future specialists.
Serving a powerful and highly individual economic sector since its establishment, the Faculty of Furniture Design and Wood Engineering mainly aims to enhance graduates’ employment chances in their field of training. In this respect, we take pride in the variety of employment opportunities for our graduates, who have the unique chance to be the main specialists trained for an economic sector which consists of 9000+ firms with 100000+ employees.
